Redline Service Halt

Hello! Everybody out there! Be prepared! Here it comes again! Embrace yourselves for one more sacrifice! After all, for what you usually say, that’s what identify you as an MBTA rider. Isn’t it?
Redline trains will not operate during the weekend of March 11 and 12 between Harvard and Alewife Stations in both directions. If you need transportation, go use the replacement buses that they arranged. Thought that was all? Perhaps you even started making fun of the riders who use those stations. Guess what?
You’re wrong. It’s coming to more stations in coming weekends. So, in other words, it’s coming to you too. Just wait!

So, what to make of it? Is it, once again, the dreadful inconvenience to the riders, or is it evidence of responsible management from the MBTA. Weird uh! My friend shook his head. “This MBTA is always a pain,” he said. “If they don’t get one way, they’ll get you another! They can even let you speechless. I can’t even criticize them!” I was amused because we see things very differently.

Are you kidding me? Have you noticed the increased noise and vibration on trains while going through those locations? If you ride trains that its track sits on concrete slabs floating on rubber disks, you want that to be checked regularly to make sure you get to your destination safe. The water infiltration into the tunnel cause corrosion, cracking, and God knows what. Thus, let them do the work, and be grateful that they are doing it. Remember, they could skip it! Would you realize it?

I told my friend, “if you are not happy with that, go ride the buses. Or get a shared ride, like Uber.” But then I thought that those are becoming increasingly weird too. Anyways! Who knows it will help him get some appreciation for the MBTA that he persistently calls inefficient and weird. Well…, inefficient, maybe! I don’t know. But weird? Who’s not weird?

Ride safe, and remember, if you see something weird, let us know at weirdmbta@gmail.com or on twitter @weirdmbta. We will make sure the weirdness is shared.
